Bustling Chicago is home to the very first Marcelle toiletries, manufactured by C.W. Beggs Sons & Co. Beggs believed that science could help merge beauty and health.
The Marcelle brand name is legally trademarked.
Marcelle face powder and lipsticks are widely available in American apothecaries.
Pioneering hypoallergenic products
Dr. Phil Blazer, an allergist by trade, acquires Marcelle during the economic changes of the Great Depression in Chicago. Marcelle becomes a North American pioneer of hypoallergenicity.
New favorites hit the scene
Marcelle’s hypoallergenic and fragrance-free Moisture Cream and Night Cream are formulated. These skincare pillars are still manufactured and loved today!
A Canadian debut
Pharmacist Victor Cape is the first to distribute Marcelle products to Canadian women from coast to coast.
Dr. Phil Blazer sells the manufacturing and U.S. distribution rights to American consumer goods giant Borden, Inc.
Progress in packaging
Marcelle continues to advance its products and packaging.
Marcelle becomes Canadian!
Montreal-based pharmacist Victor Cape and his son Michael buy the worldwide distribution and manufacturing rights of Marcelle products. Their company, Professional Pharmaceutical Corporation, opens the Marcelle head office in Montreal.
A new face
American-born model and actor Veronica Hamel becomes the first Marcelle spokesperson. Hamel starred in the 1976 film Cannonball, later gracing the small screen for her roles on hit TV series Hill Street Blues and Lost.
Marcelle launches its first tinted cream, Sheer Tint Fluid Moisturizer. It has remained one of the company’s top-selling tinted moisturizers for decades.
Marcelle unveils Gentle Make-Up Remover for Sensitive Eyes, which becomes a top drugstore seller and instant classic.
Turning back time
Marcelle turns its skin care expertise to its premier anti-aging line, NewAge, a complete skin care routine formulated with revolutionary wrinkle-reducing peptides.
The first Canadian in BB innovation
Marcelle takes Canada by storm with the launch of a multi-tasking wonder - the first BB Cream designed specifically for Canadian women.
Québec-born Karine Vanasse, actor and producer, becomes the new face of the brand. Vanasse’s rising star has included roles on hit shows like Revenge, Blue Moon, Cardinal and more.
New recognition sets the brand ahead
Marcelle is the first on the Canadian market to introduce products recognized by the Canadian Dermatology Association (CDA) as part of the Skin Health Program.

For a 4th consecutive year, Marcelle wins the ELLE Canada and ELLE Québec Beauty Grand Prix in the best mascara under $15 category. Marcelle comes back in 2019 and wins again with Xtension Plus+ ProLash Mascara.

Marcelle launches Revival+ Skin Renewal. Enriched with chicory root extract, this advanced anti-aging line promotes skin renewal and regeneration, revealing visibly radiant skin with a beautiful, youthful glow day after day.
The line features famous Canadian designer and TV personality Sarah Richardson as its new ambassador.
